New River Valley Apartment Council– DBI NON-PROFIT MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Downtown Blacksburg Inc. is proud to present our non-profit Member of the Month for June 2017-New River Valley Apartment Council

The New River Valley Apartment Council (NRVAC), a chapter of the Virginia Apartment Management Association, represents professional managers and staff who genuinely care and wish to make local apartment homes as comfortable and carefree as possible.  Our members include multifamily housing owners, management companies, industry suppliers and property employees who are committed to providing quality housing and service.  NRVAC provides its members with education, networking and government affairs advocacy.

The New River Valley Apartment Council has so many opportunities for members to benefit from. Whether it is the statewide or local grassroots lobbying efforts, or the numerous educational offerings and networking events, there is never a dull moment.

Members at the Annual Holiday & Awards Banquet

Some of our recently featured events include an annual Vendor Trade Show in the fall and a Holiday Banquet and Awards program, where local apartment staff is recognized for their hard work throughout the year.  Education is also a huge part of membership with the NRVAC. From Fair Housing Certification Courses, to legal seminars and national designation opportunities such as the Certified Apartment Manager or National Apartment Leasing Professional credentials, members can add to their professional portfolio.

NRVAC is constantly involved in local events in the surrounding area. From participating in the Summer Solstice Festival annually, to sponsoring the Steppin’ Out Festival in the Fall, the group strives to stay present and involved in the community.  Giving back is another aspect to the community involvement that is extremely important to the group. The majority of events throughout the year have raffles & 50/50 drawings where the proceeds are donated to charitable groups, such as Micah’s Backpack.

Educational Maintenance Seminar

Aside from the events and education, NRVAC facilitates conversation and communication from across the state to local industry members.  The association has a statewide lobbyist, local government affairs specialist, and Political Action Committee that represents local members through legislative and advocacy services.

The local Advisory Committee consists of community Owners, Managers and employees that strive to constantly improve upon all of these events, education and projects. They ensure that everyone’s voices are heard and issues that arise are solved on a local and statewide platform.
