In Balance Yoga- DBI Business Member of the Month

Downtown Blacksburg, Inc is proud to present our Business Member of the Month for June 2016-In Balance Yoga.
We often hear, “I’m not flexible, I can’t do yoga!”  That’s like saying you are too dirty, so you shouldn’t take a bath.  Yoga can help reduce stress,  calm your mind, increase flexibility, improve balance & strength and many other benefits.  IMG_1300
In Balance Yoga offers a variety of classes, including Hot Yoga, bikram, Vinyasa, Gentle, Restorative, Yin, Prenatal, and Yoga Basics in downtown Blacksburg.  We offer classes for all levels of experience.  Beginners are welcome!  We are enjoying practicing yoga outdoors with pool yoga at the Clay Corner Inn and Paddleboard Yoga at Claytor Lake State Park as well as during the Summer Solstice events at Cabo Beach and the Alexander Black House.  This summer we have also scheduled a mat Pilates class and barre classes to try.
We are open everyday with over 40 classes offered each week.
Student and Senior pricing is available.  We also have family and corporate packages available.  Interested in private lessons or private group classes?  Contact the studio for more information.
IMG_1278The first Friday of every month we offer 20% off our regular class packages for our First Friday Special.
Community and service is important to us.  If you have a cause you would like to support, please let us know and we will host a donations yoga class with 100% proceeds benefiting the cause.  We have hosted over 50 community classes and 15 donations classes since January of this year.
We love inviting guest teachers from our community to teach at In Balance Yoga and build the yoga community in our area.
About the owner
Yoga was the first exercise Nicole found and practiced consistently.  She soon discovered yoga was not just the physical, it helped her mentally, emotionally and spiritually.  Yoga opened doors to self-care, holistic healing and how to take care of yourself and feel good.  She wanted to share this movement and connection with others.

Nicole Fitzwater Boyle grew up in Blacksburg, Va. She attended the University of Virginia, and after 15 years of living away from the New River Valley returned home to her roots and her and her husband, Justin,  purchased In Balance Yoga in the summer of 2013 from founder Becky McDaniel Crigger. Nicole has been practicing yoga for over 10 years in studios all over the country and even internationally.

Before becoming the Owner of In Balance Yoga, Nicole worked in development with both aVirginia Tech and the University of Virginia for 5 years, 7 years in sports marketing with CBS Sports (University of Maryland, Virginia, LSU, Utah and corporate) and advertising with BBDO New York on the Gillette account.

Nicole hopes to cultivate a community of service at In Balance to impact those in need in the area.  In Balance Yoga is service oriented.  Working with clients with autism, a work study program with Blacksburg High School with teenagers with special needs, relationship with the Adventure Program for yoga during their after school program, volunteering to teach classes at schools, churches and libraries in the area.  In Balance Yoga has offered over 50 free community classes and 15 donations classes with 100% of the proceeds donated to the cause since January 1st of this year.

In Balance Yoga is grateful to the wonderful teachers on their staff offering a variety of classes to meet each client where they are.

Nicole is thankful to her husband, Justin, who helps with the studio every day. They have a dog, Ogden and a cat, Hobie. Nicole’s advice: practice yoga with as many teachers in as many places as you can…to learn and live as much as possible.  Be receptive.

Nicole used to travel over 200 days a year with her job with CBS Sports and she would drop in at yoga studios to practice wherever she was that week.  These yoga studios were her 2nd home and community.
